Silver Jewellery Express I

This 2-day course is an introduction to the creative and fun world of jewellery making for beginners. It has been specifically designed for students with no previous metal working experience. You will learn all the techniques needed to create your own beautifully finished band ring and one-of-a-kind pendant. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice you will learn various basic techniques such as piercing, filing, soldering, annealing, sanding, polishing, texturing and fabrication. A focus will be on safe studio and equipment practices. We will demonstrate all the steps needed to complete each piece as well as provide handouts with all the details for your reference. By the end of this course you will be able to take home two new pieces of jewellery you will be proud to wear or share. Note: The cost of materials for the two projects are included in the tuition. Please check the supply list online for additional items you need to bring from home. There will be a few templates for designs for those who don't want to design their own. Extra material will be available for an added cost.

Silver Jewellery Express II

In this fast-paced and exciting workshop, a continuation of Silver Jewellery Express I, you will be creating two more sterling silver projects. Learn new techniques such as advanced fabrication and soldering, creating a cabochon setting for a ring and setting the stone with accuracy. We will be adding texture by introducing surface ornamentation techniques using our studio stamps and hammers, fusing with metal, and coloring with patinas. Advance your skills and reignite your creative process in a creative group atmosphere. Note: Materials are provided and included in the price. Delft Clay Casting

Delft clay casting is a sand casting technique for creating instant, detailed casts. Students will learn how to create a mold using Delft clay, carve a sprue and vent channels, melt metal and pour the molten metal into the mold to create a unique cast. This course is open to any student who wants the opportunity to try Delft clay casting.

Stone Setting I

Learn how to incorporate stones into your jewellery pieces through two stone-setting techniques, one that requires soldering (traditional bezel setting) and an alternative without soldering (tab setting). We will be working in sterling silver. A selection of cabochon stones will be provided or you can bring your own stones to set. This class is suitable for all levels. Stone Setting II

Stone Setting II- Claw and tube settings: Intermediate level workshop. In this exciting stone setting workshop, we will be creating two projects, one with a 4-claw prong setting and one with a tube style setting, both set with faceted stones. This class is for those who have had experience with soldering and fabrication or have completed the beginner jewellery course or jewellery express I and II or equivalent. We will be completing both projects in sterling silver and all your materials are included in the course fee. There will be flexibility with project selection as we will offer two choices for each type of setting. This will be a fast-paced workshop and we will supply all the tools and supplies. We will be demonstrating the entire process, studio safety and step by step instructions.

Jewellery Making: Beginners Bootcamp

This three day workshop will get you started in learning jewellery making fundamentals and some fun projects to complete and take home. We will go over each technique step by step and give you time to practice before getting started on each project. We will explore basics such as studio safety, sawing, piercing, filing, sanding, pattern application and cold connections such as riveting. We then move forward to learn soldering basics and fabrication techniques. We will look at applied textures using hammers, stamping and torch applied textures. We will look at basic bezels and stone setting. Each student will leave with a variety of samples and two completed projects in sterling silver and one in copper. This course is a great place to start for those with no experience or for those who need a refresher.
